The 18.73 square kilometer community is located about 25 kilometers east of Montluçon at about 400 m above sea level . To the north-west of the town center is the Étang de la Brosse , which is formed by the Thernille river . The districts of Bost, Les Patureaux, Viret, Les Mâts and Les Prêvots belong to Saint-Bonnet-de-Four . In the north the A 71 crosses the municipality.
