Meaulne-Vitray is a French municipality with 889 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Montluçon and the canton of Bourbon-l'Archambault (until 2015: canton of Cérilly ).
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2017 from the merger of the former municipalities Meaulne and Vitray , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The seat of the municipality is in the locality of Meaulne.

geography
Meaulne-Vitray is about 22 kilometers north of Montluçon . The Aumance flows through the municipality and flows into the Cher as the western municipality boundary. Meaulne-Vitray is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Urçay and Braize in the north, Saint-Bonnet-Tronçais in the north-east, Le Brethon in the south and east, Vallon-en-Sully in the south and south-west, Épine-le-Fleuriel in the west and south-west and La Perche in the northwest.
