Terjat is a French commune with 196 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Allier department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the canton of Montluçon-3 (until 2015 Marcillat-en-Combraille ) in the arrondissement of Montluçon .

Terjat is about 17 kilometers south of Montluçon . Terjat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sainte-Thérence in the north and north-west, Saint-Genest in the north, Arpheuilles-Saint-Priest in the east and north-east, Marcillat-en-Combraille in the south, La Petite-Marche in the south-west and Mazirat in the west.
