The District of Le Donjon was 2015 a French canton of the arrondissement of Vichy in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne in France . Its main town was Le Donjon .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then District du Donjon . With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district was dissolved and the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Lapalisse . On August 24, 1941, Vichy was assigned administration of the arrondissement instead of Lapalisse. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. His last two representatives in the conseil général des Départements were Jacques Cortez ( PRG ) from 1982 to 2008 and Guy Labbé ( PS ) from 2008 to 2015 .

The canton bordered in the north on the canton Dompierre-sur-Besbre in the arrondissement Moulins , in the east on the cantons Digoin , Paray-le-Monial and Marcigny , all three in the arrondissement Charolles in the department Saône-et-Loire ( Burgundy ), in the south to the canton of La Pacaudière in the arrondissement of Roanne in the Loire department ( Rhône-Alpes ), to the southwest to the canton of Lapalisse and to the west to the canton of Jaligny-sur-Besbre .
