The Canton Hérisson was 2015 a French canton of the arrondissement Montlucon in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne . It comprised 17 parishes, its main town was Hérisson . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then District de Cérilly . With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the District de Cérilly was dissolved, the canton was assigned to the new Arrondissement Montluçon and redesigned. His last representative in the conseil général des Départements before the dissolution of the canton was Daniel Roussat.

The canton bordered in the north on the canton of Cérilly , in the east on the canton Bourbon-l'Archambault in the Arrondissement Moulins , in the southeast on the canton Montmarault , in the southwest on the cantons Montluçon-Nord-Est and Montluçon-Ouest , in the west on the Canton Huriel and in the northwest to the canton Saulzais-le-Potier in the arrondissement Saint-Amand-Montrond in the department Cher ( Center-Val de Loire ).
