Le Bouchaud is a French municipality with 214 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Vichy and the canton of Dompierre-sur-Besbre (until 2015 Le Donjon ).

Le Bouchaud is located about 55 kilometers east-southeast of Moulins on the edge of the Bourbonnais countryside . Le Bouchaud is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Neuilly-en-Donjon in the north and north-west, Luneau in the north-east, Avrilly in the east and north-east, Bourg-le-Comte in the east, Céron in the south and south-east, Urbise in the south, Montaiguët-en-Forez in the southwest and Lenax in the west.
