Broût-Vernet ( Occitan : Bread e Vernet ) is a French municipality with 1169 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It is assigned to the canton of Bellerive-sur-Allier (until March 2015: canton of Escurolles ) and the arrondissement of Vichy .

Broût-Vernet is located 13 kilometers northwest of Vichy in the Limagne Bourbonnaise region on the Andelot . Broût-Vernet is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bayet in the north, Saint-Didier-la-Forêt in the north-east, Saint-Rémy-en-Rollat in the east, Vendat in the south-east, Saint-Pont in the south, Escurolles in the south and south-west, Le Mayet -d'École in the south-west, Saint-Germain-de-Salles in the west and Barberier in the west and north-west.
The former Route nationale 9 (today's D2009) runs through the municipality .
