Échassières is a central French town and municipality ( commune ) with 385 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Allier department in the north of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Vichy and the canton of Gannat (until 2015 Ébreuil ).

Échassières is located in the Bourbonnais landscape about 43 kilometers west-northwest of Vichy . Échassières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lapeyrouse in the north and north-west, Louroux-de-Bouble in the north and north-east, Coutansouze in the east and north-east, Lalizolle in the east and south-east, Nades in the south-east, Servant in the south, Moureuille in the south-west and Durmignat in the west.
