Saint-Bonnet-de-Rochefort is located in the Bourbonnais landscape about 28 kilometers west-northwest of Vichy . Saint-Bonnet-de-Rochefort is surrounded by the neighboring communities Naves in the north and northwest, Charroux in the north and northeast, Jenzat in the east, Mazerier the southeast, Bègues in the south, Ébreuil in the southwest and Vicq in the West.
The A71 autoroute runs along the western edge of the municipality .
