Saint-Gérand-le-Puy is a commune with 993 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Vichy and the canton of Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule (until 2015: canton of Varennes-sur-Allier ). The inhabitants are called Gérandais .
geography
Saint-Gérand-le-Puy is located about 16 km north-northeast of Vichy . Saint-Gérand-le-Puy is surrounded by the neighboring communities Boucé in the north and northwest, Montaigu-le-Blin in the north, Cindré in the northeast, Servilly in the east and northeast, Périgny in the east, Magnet in the south, Saint-Félix in the southwest, Sanssat in the west and Langy in the west and northwest.
The National Route 7 runs through the municipality .
The municipal area of magnet was the station Saint-Gérand-Le Puy-magnet on the railway line Moret-Veneux-les-Sablons and Lyon-Perrache is which nowadays no longer served.
