Bert is a French municipality with 243 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Vichy and the canton of Moulins-2 (until 2015 Jaligny-sur-Besbre ).

Bert is about 39 kilometers southeast of Moulins and about 29 kilometers northeast of Vichy . Bert is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montcombroux-les-Mines in the north, Le Donjon in the east and northeast, Loddes in the east and southeast, Barrais-Bussolles in the south, Varennes-sur-Tèche in the west and Sorbier in the northwest.
