Montoldre is a French municipality with 632 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Vichy and the canton of Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule (until 2015: canton of Varennes-sur-Allier ).

Montoldre is about 19 kilometers north-northeast of Vichy . Montoldre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Gérand-de-Vaux in the north and north-west, Treteau in the north-east, Boucé in the east, Rongères in the south, Varennes-sur-Allier in the west and south-west and Saint-Loup in the north-west.
