Urbise is located around 35 kilometers north-northwest of Roanne in the Côte Roannaise wine-growing region , which extends on the slopes of the Monts de la Madeleine mountain range. Urbise is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montaiguët-en-Forez in the north and north-west, Le Bouchaud in the north, Céron in the north-east, Chenay-le-Châtel in the east and south-east, La Pacaudière in the south, and Saint-Martin-d'Estréaux in the south-west as well Sail-les-Bains to the west.
