geography

Saint-Germain-la-Montagne is 30 kilometers northeast of Roanne . The municipality is traversed by the Botoret and the Mussy .

The commune is bordered by Chauffailles ( Saône-et-Loire department ) to the north and east, Saint-Clément-de-Vers to the north and west , Propières to the west, Azolette (all Rhône ) to the south-west, and Belleroche to the south and in the southeast at Belmont-de-la-Loire (both Loire department).

etymology

In 1793 the community was initially only called Germain-la-Montagne . It has had its current name since 1801.
