The Charlieu-Belmont Communauté is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Loire department , whose administrative seat is in the town of Charlieu . It is located in the northeast corner of the department and comprises a section of the Loire Valley below Roanne together with the foothills of the Massif Central, which rise to around 800  m to the east . The association of municipalities consists of 25 municipalities and has 23,432 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​279.9 km ² , its president is Réné Valorge.

history

The founding of the Communauté de communes in its current form took place on December 11, 2012 as a merger of two previous municipal associations, both of which had existed since December 1993. These goods:

• the Communauté de communes du Canton de Belmont-de-la-Loire with nine municipalities around Belmont-de-la-Loire ,
• the Communauté de communes du Pays de Charlieu with Charlieu and 15 other communities from its vicinity.

The newly founded association was first called Communauté de Communes du pays de Charlieu Belmont and changed its name to Charlieu-Belmont Communauté in October 2013 .

tasks

The competencies required include the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning on the basis of a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing policy. He runs the road maintenance, sewage disposal (partially), garbage collection and garbage disposal. The association also promotes cultural and sporting events.
