Vougy is a French commune with 1,466 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It is located about 6 km north of Roanne , halfway to Pouilly-sous-Charlieu . The local church dates back to the 19th century and was built by the architect Édouard Corroyer , who was also responsible for restoring the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey . In 1334 the place was first mentioned in writing as Vougiacus .
