Saint-Martin-d'Estréaux is located around 28 kilometers northwest of Roanne in the Côte Roannaise wine region , which extends on the slopes of the Monts de la Madeleine mountain range. Saint-Martin-d'Estréaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montaiguët-en-Forez in the north, Sail-les-Bains in the north and north-east, Urbise in the north-east, La Pacaudière in the east and south-east, Le Crozet and Saint-Bonnet-des- Quarts in the south, Saint-Pierre-Laval in the west and Andelaroche in the northwest.
In the municipality of Saint-Martin-d'Estréaux, the station Saint-Martin-Sail-les-Bains was on the Moret-Veneux-les-Sablons-Lyon-Perrache railway line, which is no longer served today.
