St Martin Church

Riorges is a French municipality with 10,774 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes about 70 km west-north-west of Lyon . The place itself is on the Renaison River a few kilometers west of Roanne .

history

The origin of the place as well as its name is not clear. During the Middle Ages, the Latinized form Riorgiarum was used.

The castle of Beaulieu was built in 1115 and the Bourg in 1150 , which was first used by the Benedictines and then from the 17th century by the Jesuits
