Mably is a French municipality with 7605 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes about 70 km north-west of Lyon . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Roanne and the canton of Roanne-1 .
geography
The city is located on the western bank of the upper reaches of the Loire , a few kilometers north of Roanne .
History and economy
A settlement existed here even before Roanne was founded as Rodumna.
Mably's coat of arms symbolizes its major economic sectors, agriculture and industry. The place is a center of French roof tile production. On the site of the Arsenal de Roanne, which was established in 1917, there is now a production facility for the armaments company Nexter . Mably is also the headquarters and a production facility of the large food manufacturer Groupe Valentin Traiteur, which sells its products to numerous retail chains in Europe.
