Fourneaux is a French municipality with 588 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Roanne and the canton of Le Coteau (until 2015 Saint-Symphorien-de-Lay ). The inhabitants are called Fourneausiens .
geography
Fourneaux is about 22 kilometers southeast of Roanne . Fourneaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Amplepuis in the north and northeast, Machézal in the east and southeast, Chirassimont in the southeast, Saint-Just-la-Pendue in the south and southwest, Croizet-sur-Gand in the southwest, and Saint-Symphorien-de-Lay in the West as well as Lay in the west and northwest.
The National Route 7 runs through the municipality .
