Vézelin-sur-Loire is a French commune with a population of 789 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the canton of Boën-sur-Lignon and the Arrondissement of Roanne .

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities of Amions , Dancé and Saint-Paul-de-Vézelin , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Saint-Paul-de-Vézelin.

geography

The community is located around 17 kilometers south of Roanne . In the east it is bounded by the Loire river in the Barrage de Villerest reservoir , while the Isable river , a tributary of the Aix, runs in the western municipal area .
