Ambierle is a French commune with 1,915 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Ambierle belongs to the Arrondissement of Roanne and the canton of Renaison (until 2015: canton of Saint-Haon-le-Châtel ). The inhabitants are called Ambierlois .

geography

Ambierle is about 15 kilometers northwest of Roanne in the Forez . Here in the vineyards is the Côte Roannaise wine-growing region . Ambierle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Changy in the north, Saint-Forgeux-Lespinasse in the northeast, Saint-Germain-Lespinasse in the east, Saint-Haon-le-Vieux in the south, Saint-Rirand in the southwest and Saint-Bonnet-des-Quarts in the West and northwest.
