Jérémy Sorbon (born August 5, 1983 in Caen ) is a French football player .

Career

Sorbon, whose ancestors come from Guadeloupe , was born in metropolitan France and began his career there when he was accepted into the youth team of the professional club SM Caen in 1999 . He belonged to the same generation as Bruno Grougi and Reynald Lemaître , who also made the leap into professional football. At Sorbon it was not until 2004 that he was accepted into the first team at the age of almost 21. To do this, he had to wait almost until the end of the season for his first division debut, which he gave on April 16, 2005 in a 1-0 win against OGC Nice . After this use on the 33rd game day, he was used in four of the five remaining games. Although the team won four of the five games in which Sorbon was in the starting eleven, the young professional had to accept the first relegation of his career at the end of the season.

Despite everything, with his five missions he had earned the chance of a regular place, which he occupied in the following season and then did not give up. In this way he was involved in the resurgence in 2007. Even after that he was able to maintain his role as a top performer and was used in all 38 games in the 2007/08 first division season. After relegation in 2009, he remained loyal to Caen and achieved direct resurgence with the team a year later. When he suffered the third relegation of his career in 2012, he stepped into the second division again. At the same time, coach Franck Dumas was dismissed as a result of relegation and a new coach was hired in the form of former national player Patrice Garande . In July 2012, the latter transferred the position of team captain to the then 28-year-old Sorbon.

Despite his central role at Caen, Sorbon did not extend his contract beyond the 2012/13 season and instead signed at the end of the season with first division promoted EA Guingamp , where he also became a regular player in the subsequent period. With Guingamp, he made the leap to the national cup final in 2014 and was on the field when the team secured the trophy with a 2-0 win against Stade Rennes . Shortly thereafter, she was able to stay in class. The Europa League achieved by winning the Cup in the 2014/15 season represented his first participation in European competition; his team survived the group stage and was eliminated in the subsequent round.
