The Botoret is a river in France that runs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions. It rises in the southern municipal area of Belleroche , initially drains in a north-westerly direction, then turns to the southwest and after around 23 kilometers flows into the Sornin as a left tributary in the municipality of Saint-Denis-de-Cabanne . On its way, the Botoret runs in its upper reaches in the Loire department , then changes to the Saône-et-Loire department and in the lower reaches largely forms the border between the two departments, which also represents the regional border. Only on the last kilometer does it reach the Loire department again and flow there.
