Ussel-d'Allier is a French municipality with 162 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (2015 Auvergne ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Moulins and the municipality association of Saint-Pourçain Sioule Limagne, founded in 2016 . The inhabitants are called Usselois .
geography
The municipality of Ussel-d'Allier is located in the hill country between the rivers Bouble and Sioule north of the Massif Central in the Limagne Bourbonnaise , part of the historical province of Bourbonnais , about 20 kilometers northwest of Vichy . The poorly forested, 8.02 km² large municipal area consists of a strip of drained marshland in the west and a landscape gradually rising to the east, which is characterized by fields and pastures. The highest point in the municipality, at 390 meters above sea level, is located southwest of the village of Ussel . The municipality also includes the districts and hamlets of Leu, La Croizette, Les Marais, La Garde, La Baillie and Les Marais de la Flotte .
Ussel-d'Allier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fourilles in the north, Étroussat in the north-east and east, Saint-Germain-de-Salles in the south-east, Charroux in the south-west, Taxat-Senate in the west and Chantelle in the north-west.
Place name
The name comes from the Gallic Uxellos , which means something like high ranking . In 1913 the name suffix d'Allier was added to distinguish the community from others called Ussel .

Economy and Infrastructure
Eight farms are based in Ussel-d'Allier (grain cultivation, cattle breeding). Although located in the middle of the Saint-Pourçain (AOC) wine-growing region , there is no viticulture in Ussel-d'Allier.
In the small town of Gannat , 14 kilometers to the south, there is a connection to the A719 autoroute . The Gannat train station is on the Cevennenbahn .
