Aurouër is located in the Sologne bourbonnaise landscape , around 13 kilometers north-north-west of Moulins . Aurouër is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Toury-sur-Joury in the north and northwest, Dornes in the north and east, Saint-Ennemond in the east, Trévol in the south, Villeneuve-sur-Allier in the west and northwest.
