geography
Monétay-sur-Allier is located in the north of the Auvergne in the historic province of Bourbonnais am Allier , about 26 kilometers south-southwest of the city center of Moulins and about 27 kilometers north-northwest of Vichy . Monétay-sur-Allier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Châtel-de-Neuvre in the north, La Ferté-Hauterive in the east, Contigny in the south, Verneuil-en-Bourbonnais in the southwest and Meillard in the west.
The former Route nationale 9 runs through the municipality .
