Paray-le-Frésil is a French municipality with 389 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Moulins and the canton of Dompierre-sur-Besbre (until 2015: canton of Chevagnes ).

Paray-le-Frésil is located about 23 kilometers east-northeast of Moulins in the Sologne Bourbonnaise region . The Canal latéral à la Loire runs through the municipality . Paray-le-Frésil is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Gannay-sur-Loire in the north, Saint-Martin-des-Lais in the east and northeast, Garnat-sur-Engièvre in the east and southeast, Beaulon in the south and southeast, Chevagnes in the south and Southwest and La Chapelle-aux-Chasses in the west.
