Châtillon is a French municipality with 314 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the canton of Souvigny (until 2015: canton of Le Montet ) and the arrondissement of Moulins .

geography

Châtillon is located in the north of the Auvergne in the historical province of Bourbonnais , about 21 kilometers southwest of the city center of Moulins and about 40 kilometers north-northwest of Vichy . Châtillon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Noyant-d'Allier in the north and west, Cressanges in the south and east and Tronget in the south-west.
