geography
Avermes is located in the north of the Auvergne in the historic Bourbonnais province on the east bank of the Allier River . Avermes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Trévol in the north, Gennetines in the north-east, Yzeure in the east and south-east, Moulins in the south, Neuvy in the west and south-west and Montilly in the north-west. Avermes is a Moulins banlieue .
The National Route 7 runs through the municipality .
