Chapeau is about 14 kilometers southeast of Moulins on the Acolin . Chapeau is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montbeugny in the north, Thiel-sur-Acolin in the east and northeast, Vaumas in the southeast, Mercy in the south and Neuilly-le-Réal in the west.
