Location of the Arrondissement Privas in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region

The district Privas is an administrative unit of the French department Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The capital ( prefecture ) is Privas .

By ordinance of the Prefect of February 22, 2007, the municipalities of the then cantons Antraigues-sur-Volane , Aubenas , Vals-les-Bains and Villeneuve-de-Berg changed from the Arrondissement Privas to the Arrondissement Largentière with effect from March 1, 2007 .

It consists of six cantons and 66 municipalities.

Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017

Arrondissement adjustments in 2017

As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the five municipalities of Albon-d'Ardèche , Charmes-sur-Rhône , Issamoulenc , Saint-Georges-les-Bains and Saint-Pierreville from the Arrondissement Privas became the Arrondissement Tournon-sur-Rhône as well as the two municipalities Saint-Remèze and Sceautres assigned to the Arrondissement Largentière . The eight communes of Chalencon , Châteauneuf-de-Vernoux , Saint-Apollinaire-de-Rias , Saint-Jean-Chambre , Saint-Julien-le-Roux , Saint-Maurice-en-Chalencon , Silhac and Vernoux-en-Vivarais from the Arrondissement Tournon-sur-Rhône moved to the Arrondissement Privas.
