Attractions
The dilapidated suspension bridge built by Marc Seguin from 1859 was renewed in 2013 and has since been again available to pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Rhône. The three bridge piers of the so-called “Passarelle Himalayenne” are designed in a medieval style, adapted to the rest of the development of the place.
Above the village on a hill are the ruins of Rochemaure Castle from the 12th century and a previous Tour du Guast building from the 10th century, as well as the fortified old town. On the mountain slope below is the cypress-lined Notre Dame des Anges chapel from the 13th century. Another church building is the Saint Laurent Catholic Church.
Outside the town center, a new castle was built in 1597 in the district of La Blache , which is known for its sophisticated irrigation system, the Château de Joviac . Cultural events such as exhibitions and concerts take place there.
