Rompon ( Occitan identical) is a French municipality with 1083 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Rompon belongs to the Arrondissement Privas and the canton Le Pouzin (until 2015: canton La Voulte-sur-Rhône ). The inhabitants are called romponais (es) .

geography

Rompon is located about 15 kilometers south-southwest of Valence on the Rhône , which borders the municipality in the northeast. Rompon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Laurent-du-Pape in the north, La Voulte-sur-Rhône in the northeast, Livron-sur-Drôme in the east and northeast, Le Pouzin in the east and southeast, Baix in the south, Saint-Julien- en-Saint-Alban in the south-west and Saint-Cierge-la-Serre in the west and north-west.
