John Forgeham

John Henry George Forgeham (born May 14, 1941 in Kidderminster , Worcestershire , England - † March 10, 2017 in Worthing , West Sussex , England) was a British actor .

Life

Forgeham grew up in the Birmingham suburb of Erdington , where he also attended school. He funded his acting training at the Birmingham School of Acting as a factory worker. He received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1962 and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1965 to 1969 . During this time he had his best-known film roles as Frank alongside Michael Caine in Charlie dusts million . After a tour of the RSC through Australia, he stayed in Melbourne and worked there for two years as artistic director at the local St Martin's Theater. He also had appearances in Australian television productions.

He gained fame among British television audiences through his portrayal of the auto mechanic Jim Baines between 1974 and 1978 in the successful soap opera Crossroads , whose audience ratings in those years were around 18 million viewers. After being written off the series, he made numerous guest appearances on television series such as Der Aufpasser , Die Profis and The Incredible Stories of Roald Dahl . He also worked in the pilot for the crime series Hot Suspicion with Helen Mirren in the lead role.

At the end of the 1990s, however, the role offers failed to materialize, and so he temporarily earned his living as an assistant at the fair. As early as 2001, however, he received acting roles again, and worked in the films Kiss of the Dragon and Mean Machine with. From 2002 to 2004 he starred as Frank Laslett in the Footballers' Wives series.

Forgeham was divorced three times, and the second marriage to actress Fiesta Marjot resulted in two children.
