Doctors is a British television soap opera . It is broadcast daily on the BBC .
action
The series takes place in the fictional city of Letherbridge. It shows the operations and interventions of the doctors in a medical center as well as the daily work of the hospital staff in the adjacent university surgery.
Doctors started in 2000 with Christopher Timothy as Dr. Brendan McGuire. Timothy, who previously played the role of Dr. James Herriot was known in the television series The Doctor and the Dear Cattle ( All Creatures Great And Small ), but left the series in May 2006.
background
The series, which has been produced by BBC Birmingham since 2000, is continuously broadcast on BBC One . However, unlike other British soap operas, there were long interruptions during the summer months until 2007. The series was originally filmed in the BBC's " Pebble Mill Studios" in Edgbaston . But in the fourth year of the series shoot, the Pebble Mill Studios were closed and so the production moved to the " BBC Drama Village site" in Selly Oak . Other parts of the program, for example the police station, have since been filmed on the BMS World Mission site, also known as the IMC International Mission Center, at 24 Weoley Park Road in Selly Oak . The Doctors series is the only British soap opera in which each episode is given a separate title.
Since February 16, 2009, Doctors has been shown in high definition on the BBC HD Channel at 6 p.m.
The soap opera has an audience rating between 1.5 and 2 million viewers, with an audience rating of over 25% per episode. But since 2009 Doctors has increased its share, and the program is now watched by 3.5 million television viewers per episode. This corresponds to an audience rating of 50% per episode.
