Christopher Timothy (born October 14, 1940 in Bala , Gwynedd , Wales ) is a British actor , director and producer .

Life

Timothy was established in 1940 as the son of BBC -Sprechers Andrew Timothy born and his wife. He attended the Central School of Speech and Drama and, after completing this training, played for three years at London's Old Vic Theater .

After appearances in individual series episodes, including Six Dates with Barker , Van der Valk and The Liver Birds , Timothy was named Dr. James Herriot known to a large audience in the hit television series The Doctor and the Dear Cattle ( All Creatures Great And Small ). The series ran until 1990. In 1993 Timothy produced the travelogue James Herriot's Yorkshire: The Film . From 2000 to 2006 Timothy was back in front of the camera as an actor in a series and played Dr. Brendan "Mac" McGuire on the British soap opera Doctors . Timothy also directed several episodes of the series.

Timothy was first married to Susan Boys from 1965, with whom he has two daughters and four sons (one son and one daughter were adopted). During the filming of The Doctor and the Dear Cattle , he was in a relationship with Carol Drinkwater , who played the role of Helen Herriot . Since he was still married at the time, the affair was hyped into a scandal by the English tabloid media. In 1982 he married Annie Veronica Swatton, with whom he has a daughter.
