City biathlon
The City Biathlon is an annual international summer biathlon event that takes place between 2005 and 2014 in Püttlingen in Saarland and since 2018 in Wiesbaden . In addition to competitions for active male and female athletes, each consisting of a qualifying race and a final, there is also a junior race and, in 2007, an all-star race for former biathletes.

As in the winter biathlon, the race consists of a cross-country route that can be mastered on roller skis, as well as standing and prone shooting. The athletes have to in Püttlingen about 1.6 kilometers in Wiesbaden about 1.8 kilometers in each round street circuit to travel. In order to maintain equal opportunities, the roller skis are made available to all athletes. Similar to the relay races in winter, each athlete has three reloading cartridges per shooting range; if all five targets are still not hit, they have to go into the “penalty box” for ten seconds for each target that has stopped, which replaces the penalty loop for reasons of space.
Until 2014, the preliminary rounds were carried out in the style of a Le Mans start (all participants start from a common starting line and go directly to the shooting range), the finals in the style of a Formula 1 start (mass start in which the order is the starting places based on the result of the qualification). In the final, the women have to master the circuit five times and complete the shooting range four times, while the men have to go seven times in the lap and six times to the shooting range in the final.
In the new edition from 2018, the qualification races for all participants consist of three rounds and two shooting, the final rounds of six rounds and five shooting (two prone, three standing).
The shooting takes place on an original 50 m small caliber shooting range, which corresponds qualitatively to the constructions used in the official winter fights of the IBU and is limited to eight shooting lanes due to the limited space in the city. In Püttlingen this was set up on the Burgplatz used as a parking lot, in Wiesbaden it is on the bowling green , the route leads through the spa gardens .

The event has been broadcast live on television since 2006, initially on Eurosport and since 2007 on ZDF . There are also time-shifted transmissions in Russia and Norway.
