Fuyuko Tachizaki , b. Suzuki ( Japanese 鈴木 芙 由 子 , Tachizaki Fuyuko ; born January 13, 1989 in Kita-Akita ) is a Japanese biathlete .

Career

As usual in Japan, Fuyuko Tachizaki is a biathlete of the "Winter Combat Training Unit" (Tōsenkyō) of the ground self-defense forces . She contested her first international races in 2008 as part of the IBU Cup in Obertilliach . In the individual, she immediately won her first points as 37th. In Martell , in her fourth race, a pursuit, she achieved her best result with 23rd place. Only a little later she made her debut in Oberhof in the Biathlon World Cup and was 45 in her first sprint. After further appearances in the sprint races in Ruhpolding and Antholz with slightly worse results, the 2009 Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang became the season highlight. In the individual Tachizaki was 87th, in the sprint she reached the 95th place. With Megumi Izumi , Itsuka Yahata and Naoko Azegami , Tachizaki reached 16th place as the starting runner in the relay competition. She also ran the mixed relay with Izumi and Hidenori Isa and Junji Nagai , where she was also used as a starting runner and reached 20th place with the Japanese team.
For the first time, Fuyuko Tachizaki won World Cup points in the individual race in Östersund at the start of the 2009/2010 World Cup . With a faultless shooting performance, she finished 19th. Fuyuko Tachizaki took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her best result was 44th place in the sprint.

She started the 2014/15 World Cup season in Östersund with 34th place in the individual.

Her best result so far, a 5th place in the sprint, she achieved in Oslo in the 2017/2018 season. Two days later, she was able to improve her best result again by finishing 4th in the Oslo pursuit.

At the 2015 Biathlon World Championships , she attracted attention in the mixed relay. She switched to the next runner, Yurie Tanaka , as the starting runner lying in second position, after even leading until shortly before the finish . It was the first time that a Japanese relay team was so well placed in a race at this level of performance at this point in a race.
