Itsuka Owada (born Itsuka Yahata ; Japanese 八 幡 い つ か , Yahata Itsuka , now Owada Itsuka ; born May 8, 1980 ) is a Japanese biathlete .

Itsuka Owada first tried a season in cross-country skiing from 2006 . Here she appeared exclusively in Otoineppu and Sapporo in six races of the Far East Cup and finished between six and 20. For the 2007/08 season she switched to biathlon. The Japanese competed in her first race as part of the European Biathlon Cup in Obertilliach , where she was 43rd in her first race in the individual. In the same year she ran her first World Cup sprint in Pokljuka and was 87. The highlight of the first biathlon season was participation in the 2008 Östersund biathlon world championships . Owada started in three competitions. In the sprint she was 82nd, in the individual 71st and with the Japanese mixed relay she came in 18th place. In the following season , the Japanese achieved her best ever World Cup result as 55th of an individual in Hochfilzen . The highlight of the season was again the World Championships , which were held in Pyeongchang and thus for the first time in Asia. In the singles Owada ran under her maiden name Yahata starting in 84th place and was 16th in the relay competition with Fuyuko Suzuki , Megumi Izumi and Naoko Azegami . In the sprint race at the Biathlon World Championships 2011 , Itsuka Owada ran 37th and thus for the first time in the World Cup points.
