Sabrina Buchholz (born March 5, 1980 in Suhl ) is a former German biathlete .

Career

Buchholz at the start of the 2009 IBU Cup pursuit race in Ridnaun

Sabrina Buchholz started for WSV Oberhof 05 and made her debut in 2000 at the first station of the season in Hochfilzen in the biathlon world cup . In the first race she finished ninth in the 7.5 km sprint. However, only two World Cup appearances followed in 2002, both of which ended with placements between 20th and 30th place. From 2004 she competed more regularly in the World Cup. She belonged to the second highest performance group Ib.

In 2000 she became Junior World Champion with the team, in the sprint and in the pursuit in Hochfilzen. Only in the singles she was beaten by Irina Fomina , second. At various European championships from 2002 to 2007 she was once European champion with the relay (2002), twice vice European champion (2005 singles, 2007 relay) and twice third with the relay (2004 and 2006). She ran a successful 2007/08 season with fifth place in the Hochfilzen sprint as her best career result to date. At the 2008 World Championships in Östersund, she achieved her greatest success together with Magdalena Neuner , Andreas Birnbacher and Michael Greis , winning the mixed relay. As a starting runner, she ran a good race and shot flawlessly.

At the beginning of May 2012 Buchholz ended her biathlon career. She is "no longer motivated enough to attack again with full commitment." Buchholz has been teaching sport and operational training at the Federal Police's training center in Oerlenbach since August 2012 .
