Marie-Laure Brunet (born November 20, 1988 in Lannemezan , Hautes-Pyrénées in France ) is a former French biathlete .

Marie-Laure Brunet starts for US Autrans . The student from Antignac lives in Villard-de-Lans and has been running biathlon since 2003, and has been part of the French national team since 2006. Your trainer is Thierry Dusserre . She started in 2004 in the Junior European Cup and improved steadily here. At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Martell , she won gold with the French relay and bronze in the individual competition. For the 2007/08 season she moved to the senior division. First she competed in the European Cup in Geilo (23rd in the sprint; 15th in the pursuit) and then for the first time in the biathlon World Cup . As 26th she was able to win the first individual World Cup points in Kontiolahti . At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Ruhpolding , she reached third place in the pursuit and won silver in relay and individual competitions. She achieved her greatest success so far at the 2008 Biathlon World Cup in Östersund, Sweden, with the bronze medal in the relay. Immediately after the World Championships, in Pyeongchang , Korea , she achieved her best World Cup results with two top 10 places, in which she once narrowly missed the podium in fourth.

At the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang, Marie-Laure Brunet caused a sensation in the pursuit race when she was the only starter to shoot without mistakes and moved up from 52nd place after the sprint to 7th place. Her greatest success to date was achieved a few days later when she won the gold medal at the World Cup with the French mixed relay. Marie-Laure Brunet won her second medal in the title fights in Pyeongchang together with Sylvie Becaert , Marie Dorin and Sandrine Bailly in the women's 4x6 km relay.

At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , Marie-Laure Brunet took 6th place in the sprint competition. In the subsequent pursuit, she was able to improve to 3rd place and won the bronze medal behind Magdalena Neuner and Anastasiya Kuzmina . With the relay she reached the silver medal. The French woman achieved her greatest success so far at the biathlon world championships at the competitions at the 2012 biathlon world championships in Ruhpolding . There she achieved a silver medal in the single and mass start individual disciplines and in the 4x6 km relay together with Marie Dorin-Habert , Sophie Boilley and Anaïs Bescond .

Brunet is also very successful nationally. In 2009 she won the mass start and mixed relay titles. At the French Championships 2010 , the titles in mass start, super sprint and mixed relay were added.

Brunet was in a relationship with the biathlete Vincent Jay for several years . Since the spring of 2011, the couple has been going separate ways privately.

Brunet resigned on June 7, 2014 due to a lack of motivation and personal reasons.

Marie-Laure Brunet is currently a member of the IBU Information Committee .
