Irina Anatolevna Malgina , born Djatschkowa ( Russian Ирина Анатольевна Мальгина born Дьячкова ., Scientific transliteration Irina Anatolevna Mal'gina born D'Jacková * 8. June 1973 in Murmansk ) is a former Russian biathlete .
Irina Malgina started biathlon in her homeland in 1991 , until her marriage in 1999 she started under her maiden name Irina Djatschkowa. With the beginning of the 1997 season she moved to Khanty-Mansiysk . She made her debut in the World Cup at the first station of the 2001/02 season in Hochfilzen . Already this winter she reached a place in the top 10 for the first time (5th place in Antholz ) and was a good 26th in the overall World Cup at the end of the season. Although she reached the top ten several times, it remained her best placement for a long time. It was not until the first race of the 2006/07 season, the individual in Östersund, that she celebrated her greatest success in the World Cup by winning. Despite this success, the rest of the season was mixed (overall World Cup rank 33). Since several other Russian runners returned to the World Cup team after longer breaks for the following season, Malgina was no longer considered for this and ended her career.
In 2006 she became world champion in the mixed relay together with Sergei Tschepikow , Nikolai Kruglow and Anna Bogali-Titowez . There are also six titles at the European Championships from 1998 to 2006, four of them with the relay. She also won silver four times and bronze three times. This makes her the most successful woman and the second most successful participant in the European championships overall. Malgina again decided the overall ranking of the 2003/04 and 2004/05 European Cup after she had won it for the first time in 1995/96 . In 1996 and 1999 she was also the Russian champion.
In Murmansk, Malgina was trained as a teacher at the State Pedagogical Institute from 1990 to 1995. Like her husband Viktor Malgin, she has been living and working in Khanty-Mansiysk as a junior biathlon trainer since 2008; she looks after Jelena Ankudinowa , among others .
