Sophie Boilley (born December 18, 1989 ) is a former French biathlete .

Career

Sophie Boilley contested her first international Junior European Cup race in 2006 in Obertilliach . In 2007 and 2008 she achieved four podium finishes and won a race in Haute-Maurienne , Austria. Billey ran her first Junior World Championship in 2008 in Ruhpolding and was very successful. She was sixth in the individual, fifth in the sprint, fourth in the relay and won the silver medal in the pursuit behind Janin Hammerschmidt . The 2009 Junior World Championships in Canmore also brought successes again. In individual she was only 24th, the remaining three races she finished in single digits: fourth in the relay race, bronze medalist in the sprint and seventh in the pursuit. In 2010 she won silver in the sprint behind Maren Hammerschmidt in Torsby , and she won the title in the pursuit race.

In the women's field, Boilley made his debut in 2008 in Hochfilzen in the biathlon world cup and was 58th in the individual and 50th in the sprint race. After the Junior World Championships, the young Frenchwoman was used at the 2009 European Biathlon Championships . In the sprint she was eighth, in the pursuit eleventh and together with Marine Bolliet , Marion Blondeau and Marine Dusser as the final runner of the season fourth. At the start of the 2010/2011 World Cup , Boilley finished 30th in the singles in Östersund and thus won her first World Cup points. In Presque Isle , Boilley finished in a sprint race with eighth place and seventh place in the following pursuer, by far her best World Cup results and at the same time achieved placements among the top ten in the World Cup for the first time.

In 2015 she announced her retirement from active biathlon.
