The Canton of Villeneuve-de-Berg was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement of Largentière , in the department of Ardèche and the region Rhône-Alpes ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Villeneuve-de-Berg . By ordinance of the Prefect of February 22, 2007, the canton moved on March 1, 2007 from the Arrondissement Privas to the Arrondissement Largentière. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons finally resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.
The canton of Villeneuve-de-Berg was 26,756 hectares (267.56 km²) and last (2012) had 10,942 inhabitants, which corresponded to a population density of 41 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 350 m above sea level, between 121 m in Saint-Maurice-d'Ardèche and 1019 m in Saint-Laurent-sous-Coiron .
