Saint-Andéol-de-Berg was first mentioned in the 7th century. In addition to the name of this commune, the place name Villeneuve-de-Berg , the name of the ridge on which Saint-Andéol-de-Berg lies, and the name of the Pays also contain the word Berg . It is disputed whether the word mountain in this case is of Germanic origin and came to the region through the rule of the Burgundians , or whether it was used as early as Gallo-Roman times and comes from the Indo-European word bhergh (high). However, this is irrelevant for determining the age of the community, as it was named after the mountain ridge. The name given to the beginning of the place name was St. Andeolus , who was killed in Bourg-Saint-Andéol (then Bergoïata) in 208 .

Before the French Revolution (1789 to 1799), the village belonged to the Barony of Alba-la-Romaine .
