Barnas is a French municipality with 207 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The inhabitants are called Barnassiens and Barnassiennes .

geography

The municipality stretches along the Ardèche river and reaches in the north to the peaks of the Cevennes . It is part of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park . After Aubenas is 25 kilometers.

history

Barnas only became an independent municipality in 1913, previously the place belonged to the neighboring municipality of Mayres . The Chadenac Castle then served as a well-developed night post.

Culture and sights

The municipality of Barnas makes a living from tourism and there are a large number of second homes in the village. The landscape along the Ardèche gorges and the panorama of the Abraham rock are particularly popular excursion destinations. A modern wooden bridge connects the left and right banks of the river.

The tower of Chadenac and the 19th century church are also worth seeing.
