Location of the canton of Haut-Vivarais in the Ardèche department

The canton Haut-Vivarais is a French constituency in the department of Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It comprises 31 municipalities in the Arrondissement of Tournon-sur-Rhône and has its bureau centralisateur in Lamastre . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015. In 2016 the canton name was changed from Lamastre to Haut-Vivarais.

Shape of the canton before the 2015 reorganization

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Lamastre included the nine municipalities of Désaignes, Empurany, Gilhoc-sur-Ormèze, Lamastre, Le Crestet, Nozières, Saint-Barthélemy-Grozon, Saint-Basile and Saint-Prix. Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​200 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 0710.
