history
Historically, the village is linked to the legend of Bishop St. Just of Lyon , who is said to have converted the inhabitants of Arlebosc to Christianity in the 9th century. The place name itself is derived from the Celtic words ar (wide valley), le (river in the plain) and busc (small forest).
Until the 18th century, the village was administered by the Diocese of Vienne and until 1789 by Notre-dame-du-Puy . However, Roman finds suggest that there was a settlement during antiquity.
In the Middle Ages, the judges in the village were appointed by the pastor.

Culture and sights
Arlebosc has a variety of interesting buildings to offer. A feudal castle from the 12th century with a round tower that previously served as a parish office, as well as three other castles: the Château des Romaneaux, the Château Malgaray and the Château Chazotte with a real castle gate. A Roman viaduct can be seen on the edge of the village.
The restored 16th century church with its wall frescoes and stained glass windows depicting scenes from Saint-Sacrement is also worth seeing. It also houses a museum of sacred art, such as a chalice and ivory sculptures from the 17th century.
The Saint-Just chapel, a popular pilgrimage site, and the view from the silver cross over the Serre are also popular excursion destinations. The best view of the municipality is from the Serre de la Croix d'Argent .
