Bogy is a French municipality with 434 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The inhabitants are called Bogyciens and Bogyciennes .

geography

The municipality of Bogy is located in the Haut Vivarais , in the gently rolling hills in the far north of the department. After Annonay is ten kilometers of Valence 50 km.

history

Bogy became an independent municipality in the 18th century, before the place belonged to the nearby city of Annonay. In the 17th century, the parish built the Saint-Martin-de-Peyraud chapel , one of the oldest and largest in the region and at the same time an important pilgrimage site.

Culture and sights

Saint Blaise Church

Bogy is a picturesque village with small streets and arched gates. Particularly worth seeing is the Château de Bayard , which used to function as a permanent house , where the rich citizens of the place sought refuge. In addition to the chapel, the village also has a 19th century church with a Way of the Cross. The best view of the municipality is offered by the site de Charbieux, consisting of dry meadows and broken rocks, west of the Rhone .
